Coming from East Oakland, J-dubb's style of rapping tends to feature the traditional gangsta subject matter -- money, sex, drugs, power, ghetto life, and staying true to the streets -- much in the spirit of his West Coast peers, particularly the Bay Area camp surrounding Ant Banks, Too Short, and E-40. In 1995, J-dubb released Game Related, which didn't do well nationally but established his presence on the West Coast. Five years later, he followed up this debut with Money, Trees & Real Estate on Desperado Records, featuring the single "Life" with Too Short. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
