RCMP Investigate Suspicious Death
RCMP are investigating a suspicious death after a body was discovered late last night.
At approximately 7:45 p.m. last night, Chetwynd RCMP received a call of a found body on Jackfish Lake Road. Police responded and immediately cordoned off and secured the area. A preliminary investigation has not provided an exact cause of death, and because criminality has not yet been ruled out the matter is being treated as a suspicious death. Police are not releasing any information about the gender, race, age, etc at this time to allow the BC Coroner's Service and investigators time to complete a positive identification. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the exact cause of the death.
Investigators from North District Major Crime along with Police Dog Services and Forensic Identification Services have been called in and a detailed search of the area will be conducted today.
Police are asking anyone who may have any information to please contact the Chetwynd RCMP at (250) 788-9221 or if you wish to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
