Alternately known as The New York Citi Peech Boys or N.y.c. Peech Boys, this underground funk rock unit recorded one of the early hits in the New York house/garage scene with 1981's "Don't Make Me Wait." Despite recording for West End and Island in the early '80s, The Peech Boys never made it out of the gate commercially, despite cutting some intriguing songs. Formed by vocalist Bernard Fowler, Robert Kasper, Michael De Benedictus, Darryl Short, and Steven Brown, the group came together under the wing of seminal DJ Larry Levan at the Paradise Garage. After much club success with "Don't Make Me Wait," The Peech Boys recorded an LP for Island in 1983, but split not long after. Fowler continued to work as a background vocalist and arranger on tracks for The Rolling Stones, Herbie Hancock, Gil Scott-heron, Sly & Robbie, Yoko Ono, and Philip Glass, among others. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide
