A founding member of the critically praised Abel-Steinberg-Winant Trio, Winant plays with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, Anthony Braxton's Challenge Trio, and Room, a new music group with Larry Ochs of Rova and Chris Brown. Winant played under the direction of Pierre Boulez in the 1989 Ojai Music Festival, and has made first recordings of the music of John Cage, Morton Feldman, Wendy Reid, and more.
