Mistake is one of those releases that falls in the gray area between mini-album and full album, the eight songs totaling about half an hour. As is the case with many Knw-Yr-Own and K releases, the tone is low-key and almost off the cuff. However, D+ has more intricately constructed and somewhat less whimsical folk-rockish songs than Bret Lunsford's old band, Beat Happening, did. Lunsford's contained but knowing vocal style can bring to mind Kurt Wagner (of Lambchop) in its evocation of a rather bohemian country-folk attitude, but -- unlike Wagner -- with no pretension. Read More
