Boyd Rice - The Way I Feel

The Way I Feel is a postmodern pastiche of sounds by avant-garde noise artist Boyd Rice. But, far more accessible than his other work, this album combines Scott Walker sounding orchestration, '60s psychedelic folk, Burt Bacharach style love songs, circus music, and sci-fi atmospherics into one grand, sweeping gesture. With Boyd Rice's cynical and at times apocalyptical, spoken word commentary, the album becomes a doomsday, late-night sketch comedy/tragedy show. On "People," Rice asks, "Do you ever think about what a lovely place the world would be without all the peopleNULL" and ponders, "Have you ever dreamed about killing all the stupid peopleNULL Not just the unintelligent people, but the sort that don't know anything about anything yet seem to have opinions about everything."
