In the mid-'60s, arrangers, road band leaders, and session musicians released albums under their names of instrumental arrangements of popular hits. Earl Van Dyke, Gene Barge, and others attempted to cash in with these projects. Few realize that H. B. Barnum was one of Motown's most popular arrangers -- he worked almost exclusively with Holland, Dozier, & Holland -- this was before Motown credited arrangers on the labels, so this album of Motown hits comes natural for him.
